An anechoic chamber is a room that is heavily isolated from all outside noises and that absorbs all sounds created within it.
The silence you experience in an anechoic chambers is about as pure as it can get. I always knew that these rooms existed, but had never been inside one myself. So when I created this podcast, I knew that one of the first episodes would have to feature the silence of an anechoic chamber!
In this episode you’ll be hearing Kurt Heutschi, a senior scientist and acoustician working at EMPA answering some of my questions about silence and noise, before we hear 5 minutes of pure silence from EMPA’s anechoic chamber.
